Remembering His Goodness
“I will call to mind the deeds of the Lord; I will remember your wonders of old.” - Psalm 77:11
In the midst of daily challenges and ongoing struggles, wisdom calls us to regularly remember and celebrate God’s faithfulness in our lives. The psalmist intentionally chooses to focus on God’s past deeds as a source of hope and strength for present difficulties.
Remembering God’s faithfulness serves multiple purposes in our spiritual journey. It builds our confidence in His character and reliability, provides perspective during difficult times, and creates a foundation of gratitude that shapes our entire outlook on life. When we recall how God has provided, protected, and guided us in the past, we find courage to trust Him with current and future challenges.
This practice becomes especially important during seasons of uncertainty or discouragement. When circumstances seem overwhelming or when we’re tempted to doubt God’s goodness, intentionally recalling His past faithfulness can restore our hope and strengthen our resolve to continue following Him.
Consider creating a practice of regularly documenting God’s faithfulness in your life. This might involve keeping a gratitude journal, sharing testimonies with others, or simply taking time during prayer to thank God for specific ways He has blessed you. These records become powerful reminders during difficult seasons.
Community plays an important role in this remembering as well. When we share stories of God’s faithfulness with one another, we encourage each other’s faith and create a collective testimony to God’s goodness. These shared memories become part of our community’s spiritual heritage and a source of hope for future generations.
Prayer:
Lord, help us remember Your faithfulness in our lives. Give us grateful hearts that recognize Your goodness and provision. May our testimonies encourage others to trust in You. Amen.
